We hold these truths to be self-evident: when a man and a woman unite in marriage, they pledge mutual fidelity, support, and commitment. Marriage, as a core institution, relies on vows made before witnesses and the sacred promises between spouses. However, no-fault divorce laws have undermined this foundation, harming families and children.

The Grievances Against No-Fault Divorce

Let the facts be submitted to an honest world:

• No-fault divorce laws let guilty spouses evade accountability and abandon their marital obligations without any just cause.
• They steal the shared assets that faithful spouses built over years of dedication, leaving them financially devastated.
• These laws encourage an easy escape from vows made at the altar, promoting a culture of disposability and discouraging perseverance.
• They give courts too much power to break up families without considering the harm caused to children and loyal spouses.
• They reward dishonesty and manipulation in divorce cases, emboldening deceitful spouses to engage in malicious actions.

No-fault divorce laws also benefit lawyers and judges, who profit from prolonged legal battles over custody and property. The state, by upholding such laws, shows contempt for marriage and fails to support marital fidelity and integrity.

Our Call to End No-Fault Divorce Laws

In every case, we have sought change through peaceful petitions, but the state has ignored our requests. A government that endorses such laws, allowing harm to families, proves itself unworthy to govern those who cherish the sanctity of marriage.

We, therefore, the undersigned, appeal to a higher moral authority and declare the following:

• We enter marriage rejecting any law that attempts to end our union through no-fault divorce laws.
• We firmly reject the idea that the government has the right to dissolve marriages without fault or mutual consent.
• We commit to defending our marriages against these unjust laws, pledging mutual respect, fidelity, and unwavering support to each other.
• We believe that marriage is a sacred bond and should not be broken due to personal dissatisfaction or external pressure.
• We regard no-fault divorce laws as a direct attack on the moral values that underpin the covenant of marriage, which no honorable society should accept.
