Relationship skills, emotional maturity, and prayer are important for saving a marriage from divorce. But, what effect does faith have in the success of saving a marriage? And what is the difference between foundationless faith that believes nothing will take care of everything, and reasonable faith that has results?
Reasonable faith helps make you strong. If you know that even the worst trials and tribulations cannot stop God from making things work for the best, then you can ride out those tribulations.
Reasonable faith is trusting God with your trials and tribulations including the very worst of them. It means believing in the deepest place of your heart the promise in Romans 8:28 that says, “For we know that all things work to good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose.”
Here is what faith and confidence in God can do for you:
- Faith gives you a sound, steady mind.
- Faith gives you joy and hope you need to be strong.
- Faith helps you hold your head up high and makes you attractive.
- Faith helps you face unfairness, robbery, affairs, injustice and rise above it.
- Faith makes you more than an overcomer.
- Faith can improve your chance of saving your marriage.
- Faith can improve recovery from divorce if that happens.
- Faith can help you help your children and family weather the storm.
- Faith helps you keep your joy.
- To save your marriage, don’t panic
Fear, panic, jealousy, anger can make you ugly. I am sorry to have to say it that way, but it is true. Joy is incredibly attractive. And you will have a lot better chance of saving your marriage if you are beautiful at heart and joyful than if you are ugly and bitter.
How do you get faith?
How do You Get Faith?
Romans 10:17 (King James Version)
17So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
When you read this, what does it mean to you? What hit me straight off is that it seems to be tied to hearing from God. People often think that sounds funny as though a person with schizophrenia were hearing a booming voice coming out of the sky. But, hearing From God has nothing to do with that. It is more like having the comfort of God being with you all the time, everywhere you go, loving you, caring for you, speaking to your heart and calling you to be faithful to Him. That voice of the Holy Spirit speaking to my heart is what helps me when all I want to do is worry and struggle frantically to get something done.
But, how do you get this hearing? From the Word of God. When you surrender yourself to Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior trusting in Him, He sends you the Holy Spirit as your Comforter. And the Holy Spirit is also your teacher so that when you read God's Word, the Bible, it makes more sense to you than it would if you were to try to understand it without God's help. You begin to hear from God. And as you hear from God, you begin to trust him, and that is faith.
Even if this seems trite and insignificant to you, meditate on this and make sure you understand it in your heart as well as your head. The time you spend mastering this one thing alone will make every minute you spend at this web site worthwhile!
